Also,The Engine Known As Jumo 213E Is Amazing!!

Good evening.  This is Shigeta of Zoukei-mura.

Were you able to comprehend my passionate regard for propellers?  When talk turns in this direction, I become unbearably excited, such that, to be honest, I accidentally exposed an unexpectedly cute side of myself.  However, everything is born of the love and respect characteristic of airplane fans, so I ask for your kind understanding.

Of course, propellers are not the only attraction of airplanes reproduced through the SWS.

The engine that drives the rotation of the propeller.  That’s right, the reproduction of the powerful Jumo 213E engine itself, into which development we have put so much effort, that I must tell you of our meticulousness when it comes to a part so central that it could be called the life of the Ta152 kit.

Both the shape and the structure have their own logic.  The structure that the SWS is seeking to be identical to that of the real aircraft is…?

The Junkers Jumo 213E engine, a liquid-cooled, inverted V-12 equipped with a two-stage, three-speed supercharger.

After all, how well the propeller and the engine are reproduced is the core appeal of the Ta152 being made via the SWS.
In other words, because it is a matter of great significance that is directly connected to the reproduction of the Ta152 itself, it goes without saying that of course we would put great effort into it.

Even when grouped wtih similar WWII-era liquid-cooled aircraft engines, it’s amazing, the unique magnetism emitted by the engine called the Jumo 213E.
I personally feel such a power and force of presence from this engine so as to put it on a completely different level, but what do you all think?  Hmm?  Just as I thought!  Yes, that’s right.  Of course, of course.
Although this was, at the time, the highest form of German reciprocating aircraft engine, in the end, it can be summed up as simply an engine.  However, the more one looks at it, the more one begins to sense it as if it were a living thing.

Yes, from the very beginning there was something different about it, when comparing to others made by companies such as Supermarine and Allison.  That is something that was emanating from the country of Germany itself at the time, an indescribable something that can’t really be expressed as anything other than an uneasy feeling of apprehension, something that, in truth, also radiates from this engine, does it not?

The Jumo 213E engine recorded a top speed of 760 km/hr at an altitude of 12,500 meters, and was employed to fulfill the demand for a “special high-altitude fighter plane.”

The oxygen supply line which delivers oxygen to the cockpit during high-altitude flight as well as the cabin pressure tubing can be seen.
The link chute for the MK 108, surrounded by the engine rack, has also been reproduced.

Having completely reproduced the main body of the Jumo 213E, with structures and parts identical to those equipped on the fuselage of the genuine Ta152 being made manifest in the model, do you not feel that the true meaning of the question that Zoukei-mura is asking via the SWS can be found here?

As for the key points of the engine over which we labored so hard, and the detailed explanations of how those parts inter-relate, I will leave that particular mission to the eventually-to-be-published “SWS Ta 152 H-1 Walkthrough Guidebook.”  Right now, even as an incomplete test shot before my eyes, why does it continue to exude such a powerful aura?  It is because I wanted so much to give you a small peek at this mysterious sight that I am writing this weblog.

As it is said, the proof is in the pudding.  When the Ta152 goes on sale, please be sure to obtain one so that you can check it with your own eyes to your heart’s content.  I hope from the bottom of my heart that you will do so.

Eh?  Oh, you’ve already pre-ordered!  And three of them!!  Surely you are SWS’ own guardian angel.  Thank you so very much.

As for me, I have ordered that 3 cases be set aside in the warehouse for my own personal use.

In any case.

The propeller that slices the atmosphere.
The engine that drives the propeller.

The Jumo213E was equipped with a supercharger and an annular radiator in order to drive maximum force to the VS9 propeller.

The combination of the Jumo 213E with the MW50 cooling system not only optimized the performance of the supercharger at high altitudes, but was also effective in cooling the engine.

The structure and equipment that suspended the engine within the fuselage.
Linking the engine and the wings together, the body equipped with the flight controls and fuel.

The delicate yet strong engine rack that supports the engine which boasts such vast power.  The very embodiment of German design ideals.

A design such that the structure that maintains the strength of the body, the position of the fuel tank, and the flight controls in the cockpit can all be seen in a glance.

Gear assemblies for takeoff and landing.
And finally, weapons and defense.

The angles of the landing gear assemblies that sustain the impact of takeoff and landing are very important.
It is once these are perfected that it is possible to have landing posture that can be called beautiful.

The MK 108 Motorkanone installed to the rear of the engine.
The MG 151/20 equipped within each wing. Both are reliable weapons that were the pride of the German military.

It’s amazing, reproducing the airplanes that fly in the sky as scale models is work that holds such vast promise, and is also so worth doing.

Of course, no matter how much I say that and no matter the extent of SWS reproduction, in the end they are simply airplane models.  Although I say that we’ve reproduced the engine, there is always the reality that it is impossible to go further than the exterior.

Even if reproduction as far as the internal pistons and crankshaft was desired, please be aware that unfortunately, it is impossible for us to live up to those expectations due to hard limits in current technology and materials.

However, for that very reason, we would like to challenge the boundaries of how far can we reproduce airplanes as scale models within the current circumstances.

At last, SWS No. 2 “Ta152H-1” has entered the final stage of development, and we humbly ask that you look upon it kindly.

It’s fine even if sales don’t go very well.  It’s completely self-indulgent, but I absolutely wanted the Ta152 in the form of SWS.

Oh, and one more thing – if it’s possible, I would like no one other than you to purchase it.

If that were to happen, it would be the absolute best!

Today is August 13th.  Once again this year, Shusen no Hi (Cease-Fire Day) has come.  I, who was born in Showa 22 (1947), have no personal feelings or memories of the actual day, but even so, every year during this season, feelings of mourning and gratitude naturally come boiling up from the bottom of my heart.

On this day, without knowing of the destiny that awaited them, many young men entered the harsh reality known as the battlefield, drawn by the threads of fate.  But now, those enemies and allies are no longer.

I would like to send these words to the warriors who did not return, dedicating to them all honor and respect, as well as sincerest gratitude.

    Please, rest in peace.

And to you, the airplane lover who has passed your eyes across this clumsy weblog, I quietly offer to you a special bit of top-secret information.
One way or another, I will count myself blessed if, even a little bit, you can share in my feelings of mourning and reverence.

To tell the truth, until just the other day, I was obliged to be hospitalized for a week at Kyoto City Hospital, in order to undergo polyp removal surgery on my vocal cords.  During the times when there was nothing to do except lie in bed, many white summer cumulonimbus clouds filled the window of my hospital room.

That’s right, whenever I see cumulonimbus clouds, I catch a fever, no, a fantasy, no, a heart filled with longing that can see the shadows of airplanes.
On that day, my longing-filled eyes definitely saw the shapes of many planes in formation, flying into a steep climb.
Hm~m.  It’s mysterious.

But what about the secret information!?  Oh, that’s about SWS No. 5.

What, SWS No. 5!  The guardian deity of the imperial capital, AKA the dedicated Naval fighter plane with 4 20mm cannons on its short but wide body.
And having said that much, you know which one it is, right?  That fuselage of the Atsugi 302 Naval Aviation Corps that continued to resolutely challenge itself with interception battles against the B-29 will finally debut in the SWS.

Information that I am not permitted to say, even should my mouth burst open!  Forgive me, Planning Department.  I apologize, my brothers-in-arms of the Scale Model Department!
Your Commander-in-Chief doesn’t have many years of life remaining, so just this once, please close your eyes to his selfishness~!

And so on and so forth.  Shall I use this chance to say even more?  Ah, I keep saying saying such irresponsible things, but when this season comes with its blue skies and white cumulonimbus clouds, I just can’t hold back.

It will still take some time before that release goes on sale, but development is being tackled using all of the combined effort of the Zoukei-mura Scale Model Team.

Eh, so having said that, what about No. 3 and No. 4, you say?  Comrades, that is what you have to look forward to from here on~.

For No. 3 and No. 4, around the time that the Ta152 goes on sale, we will once again be holding a quiz in which all of you may participate.

Until then, please definitely look forward to it.  That’s right, speaking of which, have you all pre-ordered the Ta152?

This time around, being forgetful is no laughing matter.  I urge you to pre-order with all due haste.  We are waiting for you.

I may have said that it’s fine if sales don’t go very well, but if they do go well, then it’s such that future development will be able to speed up.

It’s such that I will be able to make greater appeals to my true master, my friends.
